Okay guys..

Here's the deal.

Since I have been self-publishing this series a thought came to mind. As a way to spark some kind of interest and activity on this forum, I am going to hold a contest. An art contest.

So if you are an artist and you want to try your hand at your own version of how you picture a character from the Spellbound series, here is your chance.

There are idea pics posted up in the character profiles from both Dawn of Destiny and Escape from Darkness. You can use them as a guideline (which, frankly, is all they are really ::)

) or you can take the written discriptions and create your own version of what you think they look, or could look, like.

The top 4 will be (with permission of course) rewarded a place at the back of the Escape from Darkness novel when it is released to the public with full credit given to the original artist.

So... how does this work? :-X

Rules are simple:

1: Must be a Spellbound Character.
a) If you wish to do a piece that includes a Spellbound character WITH a Law of Purple character you must first contact Golden Dragon Girl and received permission to do so. If you have received permission to do so, then your piece can be considered as long as it meets the rest of the rules.
b) You may do group art in your entries. They do not have to be single characters.

2: Art MUST be inked
The official piece will HAVE to be inked as if it is chosen to appear in the novel, it will be in black and white so the work has to be able to stand out on the page.

As a secondary note- you may add color to your work if you desire. Just know that if the piece is chosen, all color will have to be removed as the art becomes black and white.

3: All pieces MUST include your name for copyright purposes.
So if you have your own mark it is requested that you use it. This protects the both of us.

4: Anyone under the age of 17 who is still in school must have parental permission.

I understand that sometimes people can enjoy art so much that they can get lost in it. But I am a serious advocate for education- maybe not as serious as say...oh... Commander Synn Daimond *smirk*... but still serious enough that I do not want a student to fail in his or her class over this. Decent grades are a must and I am going to be working with the assumption that if you posted a piece for the contest here in the fanart board then you have your parents permission and the okay from THEM to submit your art.

However, if I have learned that you did not have parental consent, the art will be disqualified from the contest.

If there are other details you would like to learn about the character you choose to draw out, please feel free to contact me via PM with "Character" in the title.

There is no real time frame on this except that all entries MUST be in by May 1st, 2008 in order to be considered. So take your time and do your best. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with. :-*

Also, there are no limitations on how many enteries you submit. Feel free to put as many as you wish into the contest!

To submit, you can host them in your Deviant Art account if you have one and place the link here- especially if the piece is an extremely large sized piece so that it does not stretch the forum pages.

Or you can host your piece on photobucket, or imageshack or something and place the image here or post the share link here. Plus, to keep all art separate from each other. Please create your own thread in this Fan Art section and title it "Art by *your name here* " Just make a note in the posts to which art is to be considered for the contest.

There has been an add on to the contest rules, please take a gander at the changes so that you are kept up to date.

Glad you liked them ^^ There are others, but the code is being finiky so they don't like to show up much. *shrug* Oh well lol.

As for the contest, all you can do is give it a chance. You never know what could happen. Go for it and see what comes up. I did say there was no limit on entries lol If you change your mind and decide to go for it, I wish you the best of luck. ^^
